Tuna Frittata Recipes
Tuna Frittata is a tasty and versatile dinner made with eggs, tuna, and a variety of toppings including veggies, herbs, and cheese. It's similar to a quiche or an omelette, but it's baked so it's firm and substantial. The Tuna Frittata is a versatile breakfast, lunch, or light dinner dish. You may personalize it by adding your favorite ingredients, making it a great and satisfying option for a quick and easy meal.
This Tuna Frittata dish is really simple to make. Simply add all of the ingredients, stir, and bake until the eggs are done. If you want to add veggies, feel free to do so. You may use this as a basis dish and then add your favorite vegetables. Personally, I would select one or more of the following ingredients: spinach, basil, bell pepper, white mushrooms, and onion.
Here's a basic recipe for preparing Tuna Frittata:
Ingredients:
- 4-6 large eggs
- 1 can (5-6 ounces) of tuna, drained and flaked
- 1/2 cup chopped vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms)
- 1/4 cup grated cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan)
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (e.g., parsley, chives, or dill), chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil or cooking oil
- Optional additions: sliced olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or capers for added flavor
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2. Sauté Vegetables:
- Warm 1-2 tablespoons olive oil in an ovenproof skillet (cast iron works well).
- Sauté the chopped veggies for about 5-7 minutes, or until soft and slightly browned. If using spinach, it will rapidly wilt, so add it at the end and simmer until barely wilted.
3. Prepare Tuna and Herbs:
- In a mixing dish, combine the drained and flaked tuna, fresh herbs, and any extra ingredients such as olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or capers.
4. Whisk Eggs:
- In a separate dish, whisk the eggs until completely combined. Season the eggs to taste with salt and black pepper.
5. Combine and Pour:
- Stir together the egg mixture and the sautéed veggies in the skillet. Allow the eggs to set slightly, but do not fully cook them.
- Sprinkle the tuna and herb mixture over the eggs in the skillet.
6. Add Cheese:
- Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the top of the frittata.
7. Bake:
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the frittata is fully set, puffy, and the cheese is melted and golden brown, in a preheated oven.
8. Serve:
- Remove the Tuna Frittata from the oven and set aside for a few minutes to cool.
- You may serve it just from the skillet, or gently transfer it to a serving tray or cutting board.
- Cut the frittata into slices or wedges and serve it hot, warm, or at room temperature. Enjoy!
