The term "tausi" is derived from the Lan-nang language, and it is currently used in Cebuano and Tagalog as well. These beans, known as douchi in English, taste like a combination of soy sauce and fish sauce. Tausi was first brought to us by the Chinese, who used it in many of their soups and stews. We've used it in a variety of meals since then. Tausi has seen it all, from clams to spareribs and now fish!

Other Asian countries have their own take on this element. The Korean equivalent, chunjang — the star component of black bean noodles, or jajangmyeon – is one of the most noteworthy variations. Tau xi, one of Vietnam's signature sauces, is derived from this same bean. This substance has penetrated and filled the whole earth. And after one mouthful of this fish fillet with tausi, you'll understand why.




How to Cook Fillet of Fish with Tausi

Let's make this tausi-flavored fish fillet together! In approximately 20 minutes, you'll have a rich and savory dinner that you and your family will enjoy. I propose 1 pound of tilapia, red snapper, or tuna for the seafood we're utilizing. Any of them will suffice. You'll also need to prepare the other components! Chop half a cup of parsley, half a cup of green onions, and a medium onion finely. In a separate dish, beat 1 egg.


1. Make the bread and fry the fish

Begin by breading your fish fillet before grilling it with tausi! To begin, immerse your fish fillets in the beaten egg mixture. set a cup of cornstarch in a separate plastic bag and set your fish inside. Close the jar and shake till the cornstarch has been equally applied to our fish fillet. Repeat this procedure twice. After coating both pieces, cook your fish fillet and place it on a wire rack to cool.

2. Saute the onions before adding the remaining ingredients.

Next, sauté your onion (not the green onion) in a separate skillet with 4 tablespoons of tausi. Then, add your green onions and parsley and cook for another 3 minutes. Bring one cup of boiling water to a boil.

3. Season the fried fish that has been breaded.

Allow the fish fillet with tausi to boil for 5 to 7 minutes after adding your fried fish fillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste!

When the timer goes off, your fish fillet with tausi is done! Turn off the heat and serve your meal hot, with plenty of rice -- you'll need it!



Here's a basic recipe for preparing Fish Fillet with Tausi:




Ingredients:


- 1 pound (450g) white fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or cream dory), cut into serving-sized pieces

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 small onion, chopped

- 2 tablespoons fermented black beans (tausi), rinsed and mashed

- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

- 1 tablespoon soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sugar

- 1/2 cup water or fish stock

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)

- Steamed rice, for serving





Instructions:


1. Rinse the Fish:

   - Remove the fish fillets from the water and blot dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper to taste.


2. Sauté the Aromatics:

   - Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Mix in the minced garlic and onion. Cook until the onion is transparent.


3. Add the Black Beans and Fermented Black Beans:

   - To the skillet, add the rinsed and mashed fermented black beans (tausi). Stir-fry for a minute or two to bring out the flavors.


4. Cook the Fish:

   - Add the fish fillets to the skillet with care. Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes per side, or until opaque and cooked through. Remove the fried fish from the skillet and place it on a plate.


5. Make the Black Bean Sauce:

   - Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the same skillet. Stir-fry for a few minutes, or until they soften.

   - Combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and water or fish stock in a mixing bowl. To blend, stir everything together thoroughly. Allow the sauce to boil for a few minutes to allow the flavors to emerge.


6. Combine Fish and Sauce:

   - Return the fried fish to the pan with the black bean sauce. Allow it to boil for another 2-3 minutes.


7. Adjust Seasoning:

   - Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste after tasting the Fish Fillet with Tausi.


8. Serve:

   - Remove the pan from the heat after the fish is done through and the sauce has thickened.

   - If desired, garnish with chopped green onions.

   - Serve the Fish Fillet with Tausi over steamed rice while still hot. Enjoy!
